Be nice to get this road trip off on a winning note. They don't have any games on this road trip where you feel they are totally outmanned. I would like to see them get 8 points in 6 games.

3 in 4 is tough, everybody is going to get a chance to contribute and it would be great for the Flyers to win the next 3 in a row to get this party started. Gotta wonder if we're going to get Lack instead of Luongo? And getting Bryz tonight is just poetry...

I hope not. I would much rather see Vinny on the 2nd line, Downey on the third line and Hartnell on the 4th line. That being said, Hartnell did have a nice strong move to the net, which resulted in L Schenn's goal in the last game. That was a welcomed sight.

my thoughts are hartnell will bounce back and philly fans will fall in love with the guy again. i'm much less concerned with hartsy and where he will play than I am with our defense. Whereas Hartnell most likely will improve throughout the season - I'm not so sure our D can.

Whoever plays better will likely get more time on the ice, and with better linemates. That's the way it should be.

Downie played too well on that line to move him off already
Why Hartnell stays on his line & Downie gets demoted makes no sense.
One ineffective period and the lines change anyway

On a different note, looks like Dion will be off the market soon, back to another plan on defense moving forward
Man, good defensemen do not even come close to seeing UFA status
Only a wheelbarrow of cash prior

Vinny is taking Downie's spot on the 3rd. I liked the chemistry between Vinny and Read, but there's almost no doubt the lines will shuffle quite a bit on this road trip.

I know, but even the announcers were raving about what Downie brought to that line, sometimes one member can make a big difference, like what we saw on Giroux's line.
Maybe Vinny & Hartnell should go back together, that could get his game back, as he's looked lost all season.
Edit, why mess with the chemistry they have moving forward? But again, they can be changed after a few bad shifts.

Tonight is a big game, getting off to what will be a very challenging road trip, and telling how they handle Edmonton's speed, as they haven't faired well against fast skating teams

Sorry, misread what you wrote there... And I agree, I'd bump Hartnell before Downie, bt then again, maybe Downie isn't 100% yet and they want to ease him back in?

Good point, maybe they see how he is first before increasing his minutes

He wasn't or isn't horrible, it's just the $ we were paying him, more was expected.
Middle of the pack numbers couldn't help us with our average defense

Bryz is a very good goalie when he can see the puck. He needs his d to clear the shooting lanes, unfortunately the Flyers were told to get in front of as many shots as possible. Ive never seen a goalie let up so many deflected goals.

Then why was he so terrible on breakaways and in shootouts when there was nothing between him and the puck?

And we've seen Mason give up some screened goals, more so recently, (albeit not deflected)
Its really apparent when a shot goes in & even as quick as he is, his head is still looking forward.

He did have a difference in opinion with Reese, vs how well Reese works with & corrects Mason.

I hope even you can understand the difference between a breakaway against a goalie one on one, who has moderate to poor lateral movement. And getting a clear look at a shot from a player in the offensive zone with other players around.
